After completing the work to the body, the leaky engine needed some work. Core plugs were leaking and once the engine was out and core plugs removed, the amount of sludge in the engine showed just how long it had been since any kind of flush. When we stuck a garden hose on the engine block, a river of mud and gunk flowed out ! With the engine out, we noticed a cracked flywheel and previously repaired starter ring gear, so these will be replaced, along with the water pump, rocker cover, clutch and a few other items, followed by fresh paint.
